Kothalavadi Movie Review (2025) – Honest Rural Story That Feels Real

Hi friends, so today we talk about Kothalavadi, a raw and emotional rural drama that feels close to the heart. The movie takes us to a small riverside village called Kothalavadi, where people are stuck in loans and poor living.

Kothalavadi

One man promise them a better life by digging sand from their own river, and from there starts a journey full of greed, hope and destruction. It’s a story about how dreams for good life can sometime take dangerous turns.

Story

The story starts with Mohana (Pruthvi Ambaar), a daily worker who just want to earn honest living and marry his love Manji (Kavya Shaiva). But the village life is very tough — everyone owe money to local lender, and there’s no way out. Then comes Gujari Babu (Gopal Krishna Deshpande), who tells villagers they can get rich by doing sand mining. At first, people think it’s a miracle, but slowly they realise it’s destroying everything around them — nature, families, and their own peace.

In second half, the film becomes more serious, showing politics, police corruption and emotional pain of people losing everything. Some scenes feel a bit long, but the message hits right.
