Guys, let me tell you, the Telugu horror-mystery Kishkindhapuri released on 12 September 2025, same day as the fantasy-action biggie Mirai. Many people thought this horror film will scare everyone to theatres, but honestly the box office numbers didn’t look great at all. Mirai just dominated completely.

Box Office Numbers
On first day, Mirai collected around ₹12 crore net in India. Kishkindhapuri on the other hand only managed about ₹2 crore net. You can see the difference is too big, right?
Morning and afternoon shows for Kishkindhapuri had less audience, evening shows did a bit better. But Mirai had great bookings almost full day.
Why Kishkindhapuri Not Performed Well
Let me break it down for you:
- Genre problem – Horror movies always attract less crowd. Family audience usually skip this kind of films, while Mirai had action and fantasy which is for everyone.
- Star power matters – Teja Sajja is super popular now after HanuMan. So people wanted to watch Mirai first day first show.
- Promotions was bigger – Mirai had crazy promotions and more screens. Kishkindhapuri didn’t get that hype.
- Same day release issue – Because both movies came same day, audience went for the bigger one first.
Day 2 and Word of Mouth
Even with low start, Kishkindhapuri collections got a bit better on Day 2. Some evening shows got housefull also. People are saying movie is scary and performances are good. So there is chance it can grow slowly in coming days.
Comparing to Other Movies
If we compare with other recent Telugu movies, Mirai had one of the best opening this year, even bigger than HanuMan and Kannappa. Kishkindhapuri still way behind, but if audience keeps talking good about it, maybe it can pick up little more.
My Take
Right now, Kishkindhapuri is losing to Mirai at the box office by big margin. But I feel horror fans will still enjoy this film and maybe it get some growth on weekend. If you like scary thrillers, you should give this one a try, atleast once.
