Anupama’s Paradha – Movie Review

Story & Themes

So the film is set in a small village where women are forced to follow very strict traditions. Our main character Subbalakshmi (played by Anupama) is stuck in a curse kinda thing – women in that village should hide their faces. But something happens and she decide to step out of the village. From there, she goes on a journey through the Himalayas with her aunt Rathnamma and a young architect Ami. Each one of them fighting their own battles.

The movie use lot of symbolism. There is one dialogue like – many people die climbing mountains but their bodies become landmarks for others. It’s a simple but very powerful way of showing women’s struggle.

Basically the whole story is about superstition, gender discrimination and how women fight for freedom. It’s serious topic, but the director doesn’t make it boring or preachy.

Performances

Now coming to the performances:

  • Anupama Parameswaran: Honestly, this is one of her best roles till date. She is very natural, we can feel both her pain and her courage.
  • Darshana Rajendran: This is her first Telugu movie and she did really well. She bring freshness and confidence, also adds little humor at places.
  • Sangeetha Krish: Even with less screen time, she make a good impact. She carry emotion and little comedy too.

Technical Side

The visuals are very beautiful, especially those Himalayan scenes, feels like we are also traveling with them. Cinematography is top notch. Music also suits the mood, some songs even stay in your mind after movie ends. Editing is okay, maybe second half feels little slow but overall production quality is strong.

Audience Response

Most people are saying this film is refreshing and different. Anupama’s acting is getting lot of praise. Many loved the visuals and background score. But ya, some felt second half little dragging and not same engaging as first half.

Final Verdict

So overall, Paradha is a meaningful women-centric drama. It’s not your regular mass entertainer, but if you like films with message and strong performances, this one is worth watching.

Rating: 3.5/5 – A nice and emotional film, little slow at parts but still memorable.
