Hey movie lovers! Your favorite movie reviewer is back with another exciting review. Today I’m gonna talk about Sarangapani Jathakam, a Telugu comedy-drama that just hit the screens and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Trust me guys, this movie is something different and I had to share my thoughts with you all!
Quick Summary (No Spoilers!)
Sarangapani Jathakam is a 2025 Telugu comedy-drama film directed by the talented Mohanakrishna Indraganti. The movie stars Priyadarshi Pulikonda as the main lead alongside Roopa Koduvayur. Released on April 25, 2025, this film explores the interesting concept of destiny versus free will through comedy and drama.
The story revolves around Sarangapani, a car salesman who strongly believes in astrology and horoscopes. When an astrologer predicts that he will commit murder in his lifetime, our protagonist decides to take control of his destiny in the most unexpected way possible!
The Story That Hooks You From Start
Without giving away too much (because I hate spoilers!), let me tell you about the basic plot. Sarangapani is just a regular guy working as a car salesman. He’s in love with his boss Mythili, and everything seems perfect in his life. Both families are happy about their relationship and wedding plans are on track.
But then comes the twist! A famous astrologer tells Sarangapani that according to his horoscope, he will definitely commit a murder in his lifetime. Now, being a firm believer in astrology, Sarangapani gets really worried about this prediction.
What does he do? Well, instead of ignoring the prediction, he decides to take matters into his own hands. He thinks if he kills someone random, maybe he can avoid the real tragedy that destiny has planned for him. Sounds crazy, right? But that’s what makes this movie so interesting!
The rest of the film follows Sarangapani’s journey and whether he actually goes through with his plan or learns some important life lessons along the way.
Technical Aspects – Pretty Good Production Values
Let me talk about the technical side of things because I know many of you care about this stuff:
Direction: Mohanakrishna Indraganti has done a really good job with the direction. He knows how to balance comedy and serious moments without making it feel forced.
Cinematography: P. G. Vinda handled the camera work, and honestly, it looks quite professional. The visuals are clean and the comedy scenes are shot well.
Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh did the editing, and the pacing feels mostly right. Though I felt the second half could have been a bit tighter.
Runtime: At 2 hours and 40 minutes, it’s a bit long for a comedy. Some scenes could have been trimmed to make it more crisp.
Lead Actor Performances – Priyadarshi Shines!
Priyadarshi Pulikonda as Sarangapani is absolutely fantastic! This guy has perfect comic timing and makes you believe in his character’s weird logic. He’s not just funny, but also brings emotional depth when needed. Honestly, I think this is one of his best performances.
Roopa Koduvayur as Mythili is also really good. She’s natural and doesn’t overact, which is great. Her chemistry with Priyadarshi feels genuine.
Vennela Kishore as Chandu (Sarangapani’s best friend) brings his usual comedy style, but it works well here. He gets some of the funniest lines in the movie.
The supporting cast including Naresh, Tanikella Bharani, and Srinivas Avasarala all do their parts well and add to the overall entertainment.
Sarangapani Jathakam Music & Background Score
Vivek Sagar composed the music for this film, and I have to say it’s pretty decent. The songs don’t feel forced into the narrative, which is always a good thing.
“Sarango Saranga” sung by Armaan Malik is quite melodious and fits well with the romantic portions of the film.
“Sanchari Sanchari” by Sanjith Hegde is another good track that adds to the movie’s mood.
The background music matches the comedic scenes nicely without being overly loud or intrusive.
What Works & What Doesn’t
What I Loved:
- Unique and interesting concept
- Priyadarshi’s excellent performance
- Good comedy writing in the first half
- The movie makes you think about destiny vs free will
- Clean family entertainment
What Could Be Better:
- The second half drags a bit
- Some repetitive comedy scenes
- Could have been shorter
- The ending feels slightly predictable
My Rating: 3.5/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m giving Sarangapani Jathakam a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It’s a good one-time watch that will make you laugh and also make you think about life choices. While it’s not perfect, it’s definitely entertaining enough for a family movie night.
The movie succeeds in delivering what it promises – a comedy with a message. The Hindu called it “laughter therapy and an entertaining blend of social satire and screwball comedy,” and I totally agree with that assessment.
Final Verdict – Should You Watch It?
If you’re looking for a light-hearted comedy that doesn’t require too much brain power but still has some meaningful moments, then yes, you should definitely watch Sarangapani Jathakam. It’s perfect for those weekend movie sessions with family.
The movie is currently available on Amazon Prime Video, so you can easily watch it from home. Just keep in mind that it’s 2 hours and 40 minutes long, so maybe grab some snacks!
For Telugu movie fans, this is a decent addition to your watchlist. Priyadarshi fans will definitely love seeing him in this lead role. The comedy is clean, the message is positive, and overall it’s a feel-good movie.
